Plenty of fish around for the school holidays. Thu 24th September, 2015

Another couple of weeks of great fishing on the Tongariro. Things have slowed down a little bit ... but the fish keep coming and there's plenty of them in the river as we head towards the school holidays. A lot of the locals continue to target the Bridge Pool and there's no doubt you will catch fish there, especially early in the day ... but its not for me. I haven't spent too much time around town recently, preferring instead to fish upriver where its usually quieter. I say usually because just before the schools break up there are normally less anglers around. That's been the case ...but eve ... |

Lost and Found Sun 6th September, 2015

Murray into one above the Blue Pool this morning. Things were a little slower up here than they have been of late and there were very few cars in the car parks. Although this probably has more to do with the spate of vehicle break-ins recently than the fishing. We get a flare up of this nonsense every now and again and it'll fizzle out as quickly as it started. Some nice silver fish around though. By the way if you're wading into the river to fish don't leave your rucksack or anything else on the bank, a few anglers have "lost" their stuff doing this. Talking of lost if anyone dropped anything ... |

Spring has sprung. Tue 1st September, 2015

Its already a ouple of weeks since I posted a "proper" report and during that time Spring has sprung ... where does it go? Typical spring weather the last few days and we've experienced all four seasons depending when you fished. Cool misty mornings, warm sunny afternoons and by the looks of things its back to rain and heavy showers today with the wind picking up. In fact it looks as if its going to be unsettled again for most of this week. It was another very busy weekend angler wise and a lot of the popular pools were occupied well before dawn.
