Hi guys, I'm still tied up with other things ... so in the meantime ... One of the questions you always get asked by anglers who have just started fly fishing is ”how often do you change the fly“? Too be honest there is no easy answer to this one because it depends on so many things and like other aspects of fly fishing it’s a decision that’s based on years of experience which has evolved into a sort of sixth sense. Until you give it some thought you don't even know how you know ... you just do ... but I'm pretty sure no angler turns up at the rivers edge, glances at his watch and says ... |

Flood Update Sun 3rd August, 2014

Heavy rain and gales moved rapidly over the North Island late on Saturday and by Sunday morning the river was high and dirty and flowing at around 350 cumecs. With more rain forecast it will probably be Tuesday before things begin to settle down again but when ever it does the fishing should be first rate. Until levels began to rise on Saturday afternoon the Tongariro had been pretty busy and was chucking out some good rainbows and the occasional brown.
