April showers.

| What did I tell you? ... no sooner had I finished writing the words " we probably won't get any proper rain until the latter half of the month " when the clouds rolled in and the skies began to darken. Well ... it didn't quite happen like that but after threatening to rain all day the heavens finally opened Thursday afternoon and we had a typical April deluge. I was in the garage tying up a new batch of indicators and the noise was incredible. It was like taking a shower inside a snare drum and when I looked outside a few minutes later a new pond had already formed in front of the man cave doo ... |

The time for Browns.

| The Tongariro remains low and clear as high pressure over New Zealand continues to dominate the weather patterns. It isn't quite as bad as it was this time last year but with no meaningful rainfall for months its looking very dry and brown out there. Glancing back at the reports for April 2013 it was a very similar set of circumstances and of course just like then the fishing becomes more difficult the longer it goes on ... especially at this time of year when most of the fish are back in the lake. Its the same story in early autumn most years and although there are a few showers forecast next ... |
