A cold but stunning autumn morning in Turangi today. At the moment that bone chilling southerly has all but gone. However Met Service is predicting more wind and rain in parts of the North island later today. But this time from the north west, so it should feel a little bit warmer.
Day two of operations at the Bridge Pool and a huge amount of material has been moved around.
The river below the old Bridge Pool looks more like a featureless canal, all the way down to where it splits above Vera's and the Braids. The head of what used to be the Lower Bridge Pool is sadly no more, because the left hand channel {which used to flow into the main river here forming the pool} is almost completely filled in. And I wonder if fish will hold in this stretch once work is complete. I don't have a crystal ball but we'll know soon enough.
If you scroll over the images there'll be a little more info.
Tight lines
