The Tongariro keeps on firing. Mon 18th May, 2015

With flows back to a just about perfect 35 cumecs, normal service has resumed and the Tongariro is firing on all cylinders again after the latest fresh.
The river is carrying that slight milky color, ideal for nymphing but despite this angling pressure is still incredibly light.
I spent the day with Myles and his partner Belinda and although we briefly shared the first pool of the morning with two other anglers, that was it ... and the rest of the time we had the river to ourselves wherever we fished.
With plenty of food in the water after Fridays fresh the fish were eager to take advantage of the easy pickings and we had no trouble hooking up.
Most of them took a great little fly I've been trying lately ... but more on that next time.
More wind, rain and showers on the way ... a weather pattern we've had for most of the month. This will keep things moving along, so a lot more great fishing to come.
Tight lines guys.
